Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actor and performer whose performance versatility earned her praise across a range of genres ranging from period drama to action and thriller. Johansson was raised living in New York City as the daughter of an architect, and also an executive from a production firm. Hunter and her twin brother, and she were the youngest of four kids. As a young girl of just 7 years old, she began auditioning for television commercials. In a brief time span, she began studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. In the years following it was the time that the Professional Children's School was opened in Manhattan. In the Off Broadway play Sophistry she worked with Ethan Hawke. She then had her first appearance in a film on screen in North (1994) and was produced by Rob Reiner, at age nine. Johansson then appeared in Just Cause, but she made her debut with Manny & Lo, a film that follows orphaned siblings as they run away. The Horse Whisperer (2000) the film in which she played an teen with a defect due to an accident garnered an acclaim from critics. In Ghost World 2001 (as the young, sarcastic teenager Rebecca) Johansson was awarded an even greater amount of attention. Renee Felice Smith began her career in the industry of entertainment in the early years of her life. She discovered her passion for acting when she was a little girl. Smith's parents supported her in landing her first acting role at age six. She appeared in the Dannon commercial on TV. Like many other actresses starting out, she decided to perfect her skills in the field of theatre. She was involved in various productions within the USA while she was making her stage debut. She attended the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory, part of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
